Job Description
We are partnering with a well-capitalized, privately held energy and natural resources company, within a broader, institutionally backed platform, to appoint a General Manager for a key U.S. growth platform in the Rocky Mountain region. This is a rare, career-defining opportunity for a leader who takes a long-term view and is motivated by building enduring, high-impact operations.
The organization is advancing large-scale, complex energy and resource assets using innovative extraction and development approaches. With a multi-asset portfolio and a long-duration investment mandate, they are building an organization designed to deliver sustained value — to their industry, their communities, and the broader energy sector.
This is a leadership opportunity. You will be responsible for expanding and developing the team, shaping the culture, and driving the strategy that takes this operation from development through to a scaled, high-performing enterprise. If you are seeking a role where your impact will be both immediate and long-lasting, this is a compelling platform.
What You’ll Be Accountable For
• Providing strategic leadership across all functions of the business as it continues to expand into a multi-disciplinary organization
• Developing and executing organizational growth plans, including recruitment, cross-jurisdictional stakeholder engagement, and retention initiatives
• Leading project scoping studies, large-scale project execution strategies, permitting approaches, and business risk frameworks
• Building and sustaining a culture centered on safety, credibility, performance, and accountability
• Mentoring and developing professionals across multiple disciplines within the energy and resource sectors
• Managing stakeholder relationships across government, community, and industry partners
Requirements:
• University degree required; executive training an asset.
• Industry experience - energy, oil, mining, oil sands, pipeline operations, refining
• Proven experience building and leading teams in complex, high-stakes environments — within natural resources, mining, energy, infrastructure, or large-scale construction
• Large project execution experience — comfortable managing multi-stakeholder programs, from scoping and permitting through to operations
• A builder's mindset — self-starting, entrepreneurially oriented, and capable of creating structure where little exists
• Strategic range — able to hold a long-term view while making sound near-term decisions; understands the difference between leading and managing, and knows when to apply each
• People-first leadership style — genuinely invested in the growth and development of a team; able to work across generations and personalities
• Sound risk judgment — reasoned and responsive, with the confidence to decide and move forward
• Exposure to integrated or multi-segment energy operations is beneficial
Benefits:
• Base Salary: $230- $268k base, commensurate with experience
• Performance based bonus
• Competitive benefits package
