TITLE: General Maintenance Worker
PROGRAM: Maintenance
JOB SUMMARY: Will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the buildings and periodic maintenance of the grounds owned and/or operated by HVMHC. These responsibilities will be performed in a manner consistent with the Core Values and Mission of Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clean the interior of buildings including floors, carpets, rugs, appliances, windows and walls
Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, kitchen and bath fixtures
Dust furniture, fixtures, and flat surfaces
Empty trash and recycling into bins/dumpsters
Vacuum, sweep and mop floors
Shampoo and spot clean carpets as needed
Clean and maintain restrooms/lavatories
Wash and clean windows, mirrors and glass surfaces
Operate floor vacuums, carpet cleaners and other equipment to perform job duties as assigned
Maintain cleaning inventory, re-order supply as needed, and maintain supply rooms
Notify Facilities Manager of unsafe conditions
Clean outside of building entrances, sweeping, snow and ice removal, emptying trash containers and ash trays. Perform groundskeeping duties as assigned
Aid in the upkeep and repair of facilities by reporting damages and maintenance needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION: Must be able to move in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must communicate with others and exchange information. The employee regularly operates equipment (listed below) on a daily basis. Occasional bending and lifting of materials up to 50 pounds is required.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.
EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, cellphone, vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, floor machines, lawnmower, hand tools, etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
2 year of custodial experience in commercial/residential setting is preferred.
Ability to work responsibly and independently.
Must be a self-starter, have good time management skills, and complete assigned work without requiring direct supervision.
Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
Must hold a current certificate in CPR/AED/First Aid or be willing to obtain
Must have a valid driver license and reliable transportation to travel between locations on a daily basis.
