General Labourer - multiple positions

If you said yes to the questions above, you might be the next person we are looking for. Industrial Metals is looking to fill multiple General Labourer positions.

The ideal candidate is someone who has a strong work ethic, takes initiative, is reliable, follows instructions and adheres to the company's Health & Safety rules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

Identifying, picking and sorting various pieces of ferrous and/or non-ferrous metal

Sorting and picking various materials accordingly

Routine cleaning of work area and equipment as often as required

Recognize and report operational problems of machines

Operate equipment (when required and if certified) while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures

Work in accordance with all company health and safety guidelines

Assist in other areas of the business including the downstream, yard, shop, or warehouse as the need arises

Other duties as assigned by supervisor

From time to time, additional duties and responsibilities may include:

Processing cars for decommissioning

Plasma cutting

Work associated with the baler (ie. feeding, baling, cleaning & maintenance)

Greet customers and assist with the offload of scrap materials (Door 5)

Attend additional training, as required to perform duties of the job

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

We are willing to train the right candidate, however, previous experience in manufacturing or construction-like settings is considered an asset

Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (entering restricted spaces, working at elevated heights, working in all weather conditions, standing for long periods of time, lifting of up to 50lbs)

Ability to work in all weather conditions. 

Must be reliable and possess a good attendance record

Quick and attentive learner

Detail-oriented and consistent performer

Good hand-eye coordination

Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity

Working knowledge of safety standards

Good English communication skills

Demonstrate the ability to work professionally, respectfully with a positive attitude in a fast-paced working environment

High level of personal integrity, must be trustworthy

Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner

Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
