General Labourer - Car Processing & Non-Ferrous

We are looking for a reliable, industrious, team-player who enjoys working with their hands and does not mind the dirt and noise.

An individual with the stamina and ability to lift heavy loads and work in all-weather conditions.

The ideal candidate is someone who can stand for long periods of time, possesses a strong work ethic, demonstrates a positive attitude, shows initiative, is reliable, has good attendance, and can follow instructions, especially the company's Health & Safety rules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Role:

Decommissioning cars and prepping them for shredding

Routine maintenance and clean-up of Door 2 area

 Secondary Role:

Identifying, picking and sorting various pieces of non-ferrous metal

Assisting with baling materials

Operate equipment (when required) while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures

Routine maintenance and clean-up as instructed by the supervisor

Recognizing operational problems of machines and motorized vehicles and reporting them to the supervisor

 General:

Work in accordance with all company health and safety guidelines

Assist in other areas of the business (ie. yard, shop, or warehouse) as necessary

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

This is an entry-level position. Previous experience in manufacturing or construction-like settings is considered an asset

Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity

Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (working at elevated heights, working in all weather conditions, standing for long periods of time, lifting of up to 50lbs) 

Reliability and a strong attendance record

Quick and attentive learner

Detail-oriented and consistent performer

Good hand-eye coordination

Working knowledge of safety standards

Good English communication skills

Demonstrated ability to work professionally, and respectfully with a positive attitude in a fast-paced working environment
