BAE SYSTEMS BROADOAK, Hilsea, Portsmouth.
We are a Contract Catering Company called  Baxterstorey and provide the Food Beverage and Hospitality services at BAE Broadoak in Portsmouth. We are a small team of 7 serving Breakfast and Lunch services along with our Coffee Bar, Retail and Salad / Deli Bar for the staff and management of BAE Systems.
We are looking for a Dynamic Food Service Assistant to join our small friendly team;
Hours 20 per week Monday - Thursday 08.30am - 13.30pm
Rate of Pay £13.45 per hour
16 days annual leave and Bank Holidays

We are seeking a General Catering Assistant to join our catering team in Portsmouth, United Kingdom. This is a permanent position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic hospitality environment. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our catering operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation, service, and cleanliness whilst maintaining a professional and organised approach to all duties.
• Assist in the preparation and serving of Baguettes wraps and salads, following established recipes and portion guidelines
• Able to use a high pressure Barista style coffee machine
• Knowledge of EPOS cashless payment system
• Maintain strict food hygiene and safety standards in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational policies
• Support the setup and breakdown of catering areas, ensuring all equipment is clean and properly stored
• Assist with food service, including plating, garnishing, and presenting dishes to required standards
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including regular cleaning of work surfaces, equipment, and utensils
• Support the catering team in meeting service deadlines and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
• Handle and store food items correctly, adhering to temperature control and stock rotation procedures
• Assist in taking inventory and reporting on stock levels as required
• Respond professionally to guest requests and dietary requirements
• Work flexibly as part of a team, supporting colleagues during busy service periods
• Proven experience in food preparation or catering environments
• Sound knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, pressurised environment
• Be confident in using a Barista style coffee machine
• Strong people skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
• Excellent organisational and time-keeping abilities
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
• Basic communication skills in English
• Desirable: Food Safety Level 1 certification or equivalent
• Desirable: Previous experience in a professional catering or hospitality setting
• Desirable: Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen awareness
