General Accountant (AU | Xero) - Work From Home

Position Outline

The Accountant (AU) supports the growing finance function, providing hands‑on accounting support across multi‑entity and international operations. The role focuses on daily accounting tasks, reconciliations, reporting, and contributing to continuous improvement as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Day‑to‑Day Accounting & Reconciliations
• Manage daily accounting activities across Australian operations, with occasional support for international entities.
• Perform regular reconciliations across sales, inventory, and financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Reconcile Shopify sales data into Xero using integrated systems and data feeds.
• Assist with GST reporting and reconciliations for both Australia and New Zealand.
• Financial Reporting & Month-End
• Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple entities, warehouses, and 3PL partners.
• Support month‑end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of financial reports.
• Prepare and maintain financial data for forecasting, cash‑flow monitoring, and performance analysis.

AP/AR & Inventory Support

• Assist with accounts payable and receivable, including invoice matching and payment tracking.
• Support inventory accounting, cost tracking, and reconciliations across production, packaging, and logistics partners.
• Process Improvement & Internal Collaboration
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, workflows, documentation, and reconciliation efficiency.
• Collaborate with senior management and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate financial information for decision‑making.
• Perform other duties related to the position as needed.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–8 years’ accounting experience, ideally in commercial, eCommerce, or multi‑entity environments.
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and GST requirements.
• Experience with Xero for accounting and financial reporting.
• Exposure to eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify) and accounting integrations is highly regarded.
• Experience working in multi‑entity and/or multi‑currency environments.
• Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, reconciliation, and reporting.
• High attention to detail with strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams.
• Interest in learning, process improvement, and supporting a growing business.
