The Garbage Truck Driver will be responsible for the collection of residential and commercial waste and recycling materials in the Kenora area. The incumbent will ensure that waste and recycling is safely transported and disposed of at the Transfer Station or landfill. You will also make special collections as required.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent
Must possess and maintain a clean valid ‘DZ’ Class Ontario Driver’s License. Must provide a clean driving record at time of application. Preference will be given to those with an ‘AZ’ License
Minimum three (3) years’ experience operating trucks in an urban setting
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100lbs
Ability to perform repetitive lifting and twisting for extended periods of time
Knowledge of equipment, methods and procedures used in solid waste activities
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery
Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures
Ability to work independently and as a team
Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service
