Founded in 2006 with a core team of just 11 developers, Ubisoft Sofia has grown into a leading AAA game development studio, now comprising over 220 professionals. Initially focused on platform ports and smaller-scale projects, the studio has steadily expanded its capabilities and reputation within the global Ubisoft network.

As of 2025, Ubisoft Sofia has contributed 22 titles across major gaming platforms and technologies. The team’s creative and technical expertise has supported some of Ubisoft’s most iconic franchises, including Assassin’s Creed®, Tom Clancy’s®, and Prince of Persia®.

A longstanding co-development partner on the Assassin’s Creed series, Ubisoft Sofia has played an essential role in bringing to life acclaimed titles such as Black Flag, Origins, Valhalla, Mirage, and most recently, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, released in March 2025. Sofia team’s contributions reflect their ongoing importance within the franchise and over the years, the studio has led production on five major Assassin’s Creed projects, including AC Liberation, AC Rogue, The Curse of the Pharaohs (AC Origins DLC), Dawn of Ragnarök (AC Valhalla expansion), AC Mirage for iPhone and iPad and AC Shadows for MacOS.

Your role

As a Gameplay Programmer, you will develop gameplay elements which facilitate the playability of the game and complex gameplay mechanisms.

CREATE BELIEVABLE BEHAVIORS

Use your technical knowledge to simulate latency-free, reactive, and believable behaviors

ANALYZE GAME AND LEVEL DESIGN

Give feedback on their feasibility

Identify missing details in feature requests

Suggest optimal design within the constraints of the project

COLLABORATE EFFECTIVELY

Work together with team members of your or other teams for the optimal development of the assigned features

PROTOTYPE FEATURES

Participate in the prototyping of features and define your own objectives

CODE EFFICIENTLY

Re-use existing code effectively

Produce efficient, modular, and self-contained code and participate in code reviews

DEBUG

Identify and correct bugs discovered along the way, even if outside your scope of work

Your skills 

EXPERIENCE

At least 2 years of work experience in software development

KNOWLEDGE

Excellent expertise of C++ and object-oriented development 

Good understanding of templates, design patterns and anti-patterns

Excellent expertise of the software development environment and associated tools (i.e., Visual Studio, Source Control, etc.)

Understanding of Linear Algebra and Geometry

RATIONAL DESIGN METHODS

Ability to anticipate edge cases and proactively work to mitigate them

TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Ability to manage your own time and work within deadlines

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Collaborate effectively with other teams

Communicate technical ideas and architectures in English

ADVANTAGES
