Fair compensation matters to us, and so does working with people who genuinely care about the quality of the work they put into the world. Our freelance process is intentionally lightweight and relationship-driven. We aim to get to know you quickly, keep things simple, and move with clarity when the right opportunity appears.

Compensation

The hourly rate ranges below reflect typical freelance rates aligned to comparable full-time roles in the United States. We want you to feel well compensated for the work you're doing with us, just as much as we want to work with professionals that take pride in their work. Actual rates vary based on experience, specialization, project scope, and overall business needs.

Manager: $50–$75/hr
Senior Manager: $75–$90/hr
Associate Director: $90–$120/hr
Director: $115–$140/hr

Our office is located in Brooklyn Heights, and we offer freelance and contractors the option to work from home or in office. We value in-person collaboration and connection but also understand the importance of offering the flexibility to work from home.

Conversations with FWD People

Because these are contract and freelance opportunities, our interview process is designed to be intentional and respectful of your time.

Typically, this looks like:

Intro Chat – A friendly conversation about your background, interests, and the types of work you enjoy most. What do you nerd out on? How does it relate to what we do at FWD?

Skill & Scenario Conversation – A practical, collaborative discussion where we might walk through a real-world example together. This helps us understand how you think, communicate, and approach problem-solving.

Team Touchpoint (as needed) – Sometimes we’ll introduce you to a couple of additional folks you may collaborate with, especially for longer-term engagements.

That’s it! No marathon interview loops, just thoughtful conversations so everyone can move forward with clarity and mutual understanding.
