The Investment Services Product organization is recruiting for an experienced individual to serve as an Assistant Vice President, Product Owner within the Fund Accounting and Administration (FAA) product organization.
Reporting to Vice President, Fund Accounting and Administration (FAA), this role partners closely with FAA Product Leads, Operations, and Technology teams to translate business priorities into clearly defined product requirements, manage backlog priorities, and support delivery of measurable outcomes aligned to the FAA roadmap.
The Assistant Vice President is accountable for the effective execution of assigned product features and initiatives, ensuring clarity of requirements, disciplined backlog management, and alignment with broader product and business objectives. The role contributes directly to the ongoing evolution of State Street’s global fund accounting and fund administration capabilities through strong analytical judgment, hands-on execution, and effective stakeholder coordination.
The role operates in a global context, supporting product development and delivery across multiple platforms, asset classes, and jurisdictions, and requires close collaboration across time zones.
Function
The Assistant Vice President supports Fund Services Product Development leadership by owning and refining product requirements, backlog items, and delivery priorities across defined FAA initiatives and capability enhancements. Working in close partnership with business, operations, and technology stakeholders, the role ensures that user needs are clearly articulated, acceptance criteria are practical, and delivered outcomes meet client, operational, and regulatory expectations.
This position serves as a Product Owner, managing product backlog and requirements for specific initiatives or components of larger programs under the direction of a Vice President and senior product leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and maintain the product backlog for assigned FAA initiatives or workstreams, ensuring priorities are clearly defined and sequenced
• Partner with Product, Operations, and Technology teams to define user stories, business requirements, acceptance criteria, and release priorities
• Drive day-to-day backlog execution, ensuring work items progress on time, within scope, and with appropriate risk management
• Analyze product change impacts, including client impact, operational implications, process dependencies, and commercial considerations
• Support development and maintenance of product roadmaps, epics, user stories, and backlogs aligned to strategic priorities
• Apply professional judgment to identify dependencies, tradeoffs, delivery risks, and sequencing decisions, escalating issues as appropriate
• Contribute to discussions on FAA operating models and supporting technology capabilities, with a focus on simplification, standardization, and scalability
• Support evaluation of solution options and platform enhancements to improve product capabilities and delivery efficiency
• Partner with stakeholders across service disciplines to ensure product requirements are understood and capabilities are integrated consistently
• Work closely with delivery teams to clarify requirements, review progress, and support successful sprint and release outcomes
• Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements and local market considerations impacting assigned product features and initiatives
Skills
• Strong knowledge of fund accounting, including accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP), NAV construction, general ledger processing, and complex asset classes
• Working knowledge of fund administration functions downstream from accounting records, including financial and regulatory reporting, tax administration, and investment compliance
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities across a defined product backlog and support delivery across concurrent initiatives
• Ability to apply business, operational, and system knowledge to inform requirements, prioritization, and product decisions
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate recommendations and influence stakeholders at multiple levels
• Experience in creating high-quality requirements, user stories, process flows, and solution documentation
• Solid understanding of Agile delivery practices, including Product Owner responsibilities, story definition, backlog grooming, and sprint collaboration
• Ability to operate effectively in global, matrixed environments
• Strong analytical skills and sound professional judgment
• Exposure to adoption of AI within the Product Development Lifecycle is preferred
Experience
• 7-12 years’ experience in Securities Services or related financial services businesses
• Prior experience in fund accounting and/or fund administration environments
• Experience supporting platform enhancements, product change, or transformation initiatives with direct involvement in requirements and delivery coordination
• Prior experience in a product owner, business analysis, product, or technology delivery role
• Experience working within global organizations and multi‑stakeholder delivery models
Indicative Role Split
• Product backlog ownership and delivery support: 45–50%
• Business analysis, requirements definition, and problem solving: 30–35%
• Stakeholder engagement, sprint collaboration, and release support: 20–25%
