Who We Are

The Merchant Group consists of 150+ engineers across 25+ cross-functional teams, working together to help merchants grow their businesses and streamline operations through innovative technology. Some of us focus on building seamless experiences for our merchants, while others work on the behind-the-scenes magic that makes everything run smoothly.

We’re looking for a backend-leaning Fullstack Engineer to help build and evolve the next generation of merchant tooling, with a focus on inventory management and warehousing for Wolt Markets and other merchant partners. What You’ll Do

As an engineer in our group, you’ll work on production systems that support merchant and warehouse operations, contributing across the stack with a primary focus on backend development. You’ll help shape how inventory and merchant tools work at scale, while also building user-facing interfaces used daily by store managers.

Day-to-day in this role you’ll:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Kotlin (and occasionally Scala), supporting core merchant and inventory workflows.

• Contribute to full-stack features, including developing and improving React + TypeScript frontend applications.

• Work across the development lifecycle — from implementation and testing to deployment and monitoring in the cloud.

• Collaborate with teammates on system and API design, making pragmatic technology choices that keep our systems reliable and easy to evolve.

• Partner closely with product managers and designers to turn operational needs into clear, user-friendly solutions.

• Learn and grow alongside experienced engineers in an environment that values curiosity, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Our humble expectations

We’re seeking experienced Software Engineers with a strong background in building scalable microservices. While Kotlin is our primary language, experience with Java, Scala, or other JVM backend languages is great. As we are exploring Go, we're looking for people who are confident in their ability to learn and teach! 🛠️

To be successful in this role, it helps if you have:

• Strong backend experience, with Kotlin (or other JVM languages) as your primary focus.

• Practical experience building frontend applications with React, and comfort contributing to UI code when needed.

• Experience switching between backend and frontend work, even if backend is where you spend most of your time.

• Familiarity with testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deploying services to cloud environments.

• A collaborative mindset, clear communication skills, and an interest in learning from and with others.
