About Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity
Founded in 1988, Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in Winnebago County, Illinois. Our mission is to help households achieve strength, stability, and opportunity by fortifying the place they call home. We do this through the construction and affordable sale of safe homes for new homeowners; through critical home preservation efforts for existing homeowners; and through broad advocacy that supports housing solutions for all.
We partner with families in need to construct and rehabilitate safe, affordable homes, offering zero-interest mortgages with no down payment. Our work is not just about building houses; it's about creating homeowners and strengthening communities. By removing barriers to homeownership, we empower families to build wealth, improve health outcomes, and invest in their futures.
