Metro Global Solution Center (MGSC) is internal solution partner for METRO, a €31.6 Billion international wholesaler with operations in more than 30 countries. The store network comprises a total of 623 stores in 21 countries, of which 522 offer out-of-store delivery (OOS), and 94 dedicated depots. In 12 countries, METRO runs only the delivery business by its delivery companies (Food Service Distribution, FSD).

HoReCa and Traders are core customer groups of METRO. The HoReCa section includes hotels, restaurants, catering companies as well as bars, cafés and canteen operators. The Traders section includes small grocery stores and kiosks. The majority of all customer groups are small and medium-sized enterprises as well as sole traders. METRO helps them manage their business challenges more effectively.

MGSC, location wise is present in Pune (India), Düsseldorf (Germany) and Szczecin (Poland). We provide HR, Finance, IT & Business, Branding, Strategy operations support to 31 countries, speak 24+ languages and process over 18,000 transactions a day. How will you make an impact?

The online shop for delivery customers called M.Shop is the core of the online business of Metro and the place where all delivery orders of Metro customer are placed.

You will join M.Shop: CCOV and Assist which is the core team around all customer related aspects within the M.Shop. We manage favorite article lists for our customers, we provide customer information to other teams inside M.Shop and the login functionality for both customers and employees is provided by us as well.

 

What will you do:

• Collaborate in a cross functional product team and with other teams on solving customer problems by delivering product functionalities and support.
• Be involved in all phases of the software development process from inception over coding, testing, delivery to operation.
• Advocate for improvements to product quality, security and performance.
• Work self-organized.
• Drive the development of the product.
• Do on call for the product team applications once you feel ready.
• Take initiative and proactively identify tasks and solutions.
• Actively participate in discussions to find the best solutions, valuing every opinion and making a significant impact.

Required key competencies and qualifications:

• 7+ years of professional experience as Full Stack Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in two out of the three programming languages: Java, Kotlin, and Clojure, and you are comfortable with the third.
• React experience from front-end required.
• Cassandra database experience required.
• Experience in Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes required.
• GCP-Cloud experience required.
• Being comfortable with at least 75% of our tech stack and to work in all areas of the software development life cycle (concept, implementation, quality assurance, deployment, running, support).
• You are hungry to learn.
• You are eager to address broad challenges and lead their resolution.
• Very good fluency in English (written and verbal).
