Full Stack Developer (Laravel)

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer with Laravel experience to join our lean and growing software development team.

In January 2022, we launched our new learning management system ("Qualify") that will contribute to our competitive position in the Health & Safety services market as we add new features to improve the lives of our users, and disrupt the old-school-enterprise-software space that is the current health and safety software industry. In the next 12 months the successful candidate will be an important contributor in some big projects, including a substantial set of features to develop for our web application and React Native based native mobile apps, and supporting our existing feature set with bug fixes and quality of life improvements for our users and our team.

We are looking for an "intermediate" application developer with focused experience using the Laravel framework. The ideal individual seeks to write code that is efficient, relies on the power of doing things the idiomatic Laravel way, and values maintaining test coverage in new and existing features of the application they are working on. You are interested in constantly learning and growing as a person and a software engineer, using AI tools as a force-multiplier and seeking feedback from others as a means of self-improvement.

The Full Stack Developer at Worksite Safety will participate as a collaborator in our product team as new features are shaped, designed, built, tested and shipped.

The Day-to-Day

Sole ownership of features to develop, and bugs to investigate and fix with the support of the team.

Providing and receiving reviews on pull requests, and participating in pair programming

Participating in shaping new features (we use parts of the 'Shape Up' methodology in our software development cycles)

Communication with individuals across the organization to collect and respond to feedback (in Slack primarily)

Collaborating with the customer facing and UI/UX teams to uncover areas of improvement

The Tools You Need

A strong track record of success building modern web applications using Laravel (or a similar PHP framework)

Familiarity with CSS utility-class frameworks, specific experience with TailwindCSS an asset

Able to build UI using JavaScript frameworks Vue.js/React.js (we also use Inertia.js for our web application)

An understanding of accessibility standards, or a desire to learn

Comfortable with writing, editing, and maintaining Unit/Feature tests

Eager to research and learn in a self-directed way
