JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of accounting system. Areas of responsibility include cash, general accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets and payroll; ensuring the integrity of the accounting system. Timeliness and Accuracy of Hospital/Foundation Financial Reporting, subject to CFO provided calculations.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Education Requirements: Minimum of four-year degree in Accounting/Business Administration preferred.
Experience:
Solid technical accounting skills with 5+ years of hands on general ledger experience including journal entries, reconciliations and month end close.
Minimum of two year supervisory and personnel management experience desirable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Achieve accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information, resolving problems, determining system improvements and implementing change.
2. Development and Entry of Journal Entries.
3. Maintenance of Chart of Accounts.
4. Review of accounts for transaction accuracy.
5. Close GL System at Month and Year-End.
6. Responsible for AP and Payroll direct reports.
7. Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts quarterly and at year-end.
8. Maintains accuracy of fixed assets to the general ledger and inputs asset information into software.
9. Oversees accrual and prepaid schedules.
10. Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in Accounts Payable and Payroll functions.
11. Establish and maintain workflow documentation on network drive for Budget, Fixed Assets and Month-End Close procedures.
12. Daily Posting of Batches.
13. Monitors semi-annual sales and use tax report and refund filing.
14. Reconciles hospital, foundation, and clinic bank statements. Monitors outstanding checks on bank recons and reissues as needed. Assist AP in yearly escheat reporting to state.
15. Interact with department managers, staff and physicians on Financial Data, as needed.
16. Assist in formulating finance policies and procedures.
17. Develop data gathering mechanisms and perform audits to achieve compliance objectives.
18. Setup and Maintain Capital Leases.
19. Maintains/updates Meditech GL dictionaries and GL compiled reports to reflect appropriate data.
20. Review department policies at least annually. Review disaster/safety policies for department and attend Safety Meetings.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
