How you’ll demonstrate Ownership

The Frontend Data Integration team at Cognite plays a key role in building intuitive, scalable interfaces that power industrial Digital Twins. Our work focuses on creating seamless user experiences on top of complex, data-intensive systems, ensuring users can interact with and extract value from industrial data efficiently.

As aFrontend Engineer at Cognite, you will take ownership of building and improving core UI components from day one. You’ll contribute to the development of React-based applications, working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, consistent, and performant user interfaces. You’ll embrace the “Bootstrap” mindset—learning quickly, staying resourceful, and actively contributing to production systems early in your journey.

The Impact you bring to Cognite

• Assist in developing and maintaining data-intensive web applications using React.js and TypeScript, contributing to scalable and reliable frontend systems.

• Build and refine reusable UI components using design systems and UI frameworks such as Tailwind or Bootstrap, ensuring consistency across the platform.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while learning advanced frontend concepts like state management and rendering optimization.

• Support integration between frontend interfaces and backend APIs, developing an understanding of full data flow across systems.

• Actively participate in code reviews and engineering discussions, continuously improving code quality and development practices.

• Collaborate with product teams, designers, and global stakeholders to translate requirements into functional and user-friendly interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 0–2 years of experience in software development (including internships or academic projects).

• A CS degree from a Tier 1 institution is preferred, though we value equivalent top-tier technical experience

• Strong understanding of frontend fundamentals, including HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).

• Hands-on experience with React.js (projects or coursework) and willingness to develop expertise in TypeScript.

• Strong problem-solving mindset with eagerness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working in teams.
