Frontend engineer for web (React.js, Next.js)

To elevate our brand to the top tier of the tech industry, we are looking for a Frontend Engineer for Apify’s Web team. You will work with React and Next.js to ensure optimized and modern front-end architecture for our websites.

You will be responsible for creating complex layouts, smooth interactions, and exceptional UX across our applications.

What you’ll be working on:

• Help us turn our public web presence: homepage, docs, blog, and landing pages into a fast, modern, and industry-leading experience.

• Build UIs seen by hundreds of thousands of developers every month. Your work will directly impact how our brand is perceived.

• Use the latest web stack (React 19, Next.js 16, RSCs, etc.) and AI and automation tools on a daily basis to boost your workflow and push the boundaries of what’s possible on the modern web.

• Work closely with design to bring animations and micro-interactions to our websites, not just implementing them, but helping shape our motion design system and animation stack.

• Rapidly iterate on features and UIs by coupling a headless CMS (Strapi) with our experimentation platform (GrowthBook) to ship, measure, and refine based on real user data.

• Work in a small cross-functional team carrying features all the way from the discovery phase up until production.

Our tech stack:

• Frontend: React.js, styled-components, Storybook, Chromatic, Cypress, Playwright

• Backend: TypeScript/Node.js, Nest.js, Next.js, Express.js, Docusaurus, Jest

• Infra: AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, S3, GitHub Actions

• Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, Mezmo, Sentry, PagerDuty

• Tools: GitHub, ZenHub, Notion, Google Workspace

• Editor and AI assistant of your choice (GH Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Gemini, or JetBrains AI)

• Process: two-week sprints, code reviews, tests, automating whatever we can, and deploying multiple times per day.

They say there are no perfect candidates, but you might be the one if you have:

• 3+ years of industry experience building complex websites or web applications.

• Deep understanding of web application development (responsive design, page speed, accessibility).

• Hands-on experience with creating animations and micro-interactions (you’re familiar with animation tools such as Web Animations API, Framer Motion, or Three.js) is a big plus.

• Passion for user experience, design systems, and creating intuitive interfaces.

• A collaborative and experiment-driven mindset.

• Good communication skills in English.

By the end of the 1st month, we expect you to:

• Get familiar with Apify's culture, values, and how various teams work together.

• Learn about our tools, processes, and workflows to understand where you fit in and how to be most effective.

• Familiarize yourself with the Apify platform, its technical architecture, and key product areas across our portfolio.

• Make your first contributions to our codebase, starting with smaller tasks to get to know it.

• Participate in the ceremonies of your team and the Engineering.

By the end of the first 4 months, we expect you to:

• Work on medium-sized tasks (independently but with guidance) from specification to delivery, and participate in the design of more complex initiatives.

• Take ownership of the animation tech stack and define the collaboration process with the design team to streamline how we transform motion concepts from designs into production code.

• Contribute to our developer-focused content with high-quality documentation or, for example, tutorials for newly created features.

• Understand, in principle, how the Apify platform works, and you can handle smaller incidents or bugs on the services you work with the most.

• Actively participate in team ceremonies, such as planning or grooming, and be in touch with other teams.

From month 4 onwards, we expect you to:

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the parts of the platform you work on the most, offering meaningful feedback on PRs and implementation plans.

• Have the animation workflow and tech stack fully established, documented, and validated by delivering multiple high-quality UI projects using the new process.

• Drive larger initiatives mostly independently (while remaining fearless in asking for help when needed).

• Consistently write documentation and tests for every feature you implement.

• Confidently release your changes to production.

• Participate in handling incoming bug reports and on-call support duties.

• Actively help improve our systems and workflows based on your prior experience.

• Engage in discovery and communication with users via customer calls, Discord, and public issues.
