Founding Engineer

We are looking for a Founding Engineer to join a high-impact, early-stage product team. As one of the first engineering hires, you will play a critical role in shaping the technology, culture, and direction of the company. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong Python (FastAPI) expertise who thrives in startup environments and enjoys building scalable systems from the ground up.

You will collaborate closely with founders and cross-functional teams across product, design, and growth to build and scale the core platform. This position demands strong technical skills, a product-oriented mindset, and a bias toward ownership and action.

Requirements:
Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of backend architecture and development using Python (FastAPI).
• Build scalable APIs, services, and data pipelines to power high-performance products.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate user needs into technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture and design decisions to ensure system performance, scalability, and security.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and monitoring systems for a robust engineering foundation.
• Identify and solve core technical challenges proactively.
• Establish engineering best practices and foster a quality-driven development culture.
• Mentor future engineering hires and help scale the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, preferably in fast-paced startup environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with deep expertise in FastAPI.
• Solid understanding of API development, async programming, and modern web services.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Strong understanding of system design, architecture, and backend performance optimization.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and containerized deployments.
• Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and takes end-to-end ownership.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a founding engineer or early-stage team member.
• Exposure to frontend technologies (React/Next.js) is a plus.
• Familiarity with analytics, event-driven systems, or microservices architecture.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs or building platforms with external integrations.
