Required Skills
Job Description
TL;DR — We’re building humanity’s defense layer for the AI age and looking for a founding Forward-Deployed Engineer to embed with elite sports, music, and live production environments — turning real-world cyber-physical risk into durable product capability.
If you would have joined Fitbit or Nest on day one to build a new category — not polish an old one — this is that role.
Why Sweep?
As intelligent machines proliferate into every part of the physical world, humans still lack a defense layer to ensure the systems and devices we rely on remain aligned with us.
We're building that layer today by deploying alongside the world’s highest-stakes teams — Olympic delegations, F1 paddocks, halftime shows, global tours, studio productions, executive protection units. What we learn there becomes the foundation for a civilization-defining capability.
We’re a small, talent-dense team with a bias for high ownership, high velocity, and low ego. We care deeply, move fast, and are here to build something that outlasts us.
Together, we’ll redefine cyber-physical security for the AI age.
What makes this role special?
• Be a first Forward Deployed Engineer (Sports & Entertainment) at Sweep.
• Embed with security directors, league officials, production leads, and operators.
• Represent Sweep in rooms where trust matters more than titles.
• Operate discreetly behind the scenes of humanity's biggest moments where RF density, logistics complexity, and reputational risk are extreme.
• Operate as the connective tissue between customers and core engineers to solve never-seen-before cyber risks.
• Influence core product direction based on what actually breaks in the field.
• Build repeatable playbooks that scale beyond any single deployment.
What we’re looking for...
• 3–5 years building and shipping production-grade systems in ambiguous, real-world environments.
• Strong architectural thinking across mobile, networking, data, and backend systems.
• Ability to operate calmly in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
• Bias toward action — prototype, deploy, iterate.
• Hands-on experience with BLE, Wi-Fi (802.11), RF, and device-level exploration in dense, noisy signal environments.
• Clear communication—turning field observations into concrete product changes.
• U.S. Person status required (may involve export-controlled data).
Bonus if you’ve...
• Used SDRs, packet capture, RF survey tools, or similar instrumentation.
• Been customer-embedded or forward-deployed in national-level sporting, entertainment, or government environments.
• Worked with LLMs, agentic systems, or data-driven automation.
• Hustled in a founding or early-stage startup environment.
What you’ll do...
• Deploy globally for short, unpredictable high-intensity engagements (~40-60% global travel).
• Diagnose real-world cyber-physical risk in dense environments.
• Implement and validate countermeasures using Sweep, then convert repeatable patterns into product capability.
• Capture patterns and edge cases so improvements scale system-wide.
• Partner directly with core engineers to translate field reality into durable platform capability.
• Shape how Forward Deployed Engineering works (rituals, repeatable playbooks, org design)
How we select...
• Submit a short application
• Complete a 20-minute intro call
• Technical deep-dive and discussion of how you approach problems
• Show us something you’ve built that makes you proud
• References and offer
