Position Purpose
The Quality & Regulatory Affairs Manager serves as a critical role within Farmina’s manufacturing operations, responsible for ensuring the production of safe, high-quality pet food products while maintaining full compliance with all U.S., Canadian and international regulatory requirements. This position unites the core functions of Quality Control
and Regulatory Affairs, overseeing quality systems, regulatory submissions, compliance programs, labeling approvals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role ensures Farmina’s products meet our high internal standards and all applicable FDA, USDA, AAFCO, FSMA, state feed laws, and international regulations.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Animal Science, Regulatory Affairs, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Minimum of 5+ years of combined quality control/assurance and regulatory affairs experience, within the food, pet food, or animal feed industry.
Proven experience working with FDA CVM, USDA, AAFCO, FSMA, and state feed regulations.
Experience preparing and managing USDA APHIS import permits strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP, food safety systems, and regulatory frameworks.
Experience with chemical, microbiological, and sensory testing.
Ability to analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
Highly proficient in regulatory documentation, labeling compliance, and recordkeeping.

Demonstrated leadership with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a team.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and external communication.
High attention to detail, organizational strength, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Certifications
ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar credentials (preferred but not required).
Must be willing to work, weekends and different shifts as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control Leadership
Oversee all aspects of quality assurance and quality control for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
Implement and maintain robust QC procedures, testing protocols, and inspection programs to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance.
Lead root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and cross-functional quality improvement initiatives.
Develop and monitor quality KPIs and generate regular performance reports for senior management.
Regulatory Affairs Management
Ensure compliance with all FDA (CVM), USDA, AAFCO, FSMA, APHIS, and state feed control regulations.
Prepare, submit, and maintain USDA APHIS import permits for ingredients and finished goods.
Manage regulatory submissions for domestic and international markets, including product registrations and state licensing.
Stay current with regulatory updates and communicate changes to internal teams.
Assist with and lead preparation for regulatory audits, inspections, and inquiries from agencies.
Labeling & Product Compliance
Review and approve packaging, product labels, ingredient statements, guaranteed analysis, claims, and marketing materials for regulatory compliance.
Maintain labeling databases and update documentation as regulations evolve.
Ensure AAFCO compliance for nutritional adequacy, feeding guidelines, and product classification.
Supplier Quality & Documentation Management
Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure raw material quality and compliance with Farmina’s standards.
Maintain records, SOPs, quality documentation, regulatory submissions, permits, certifications, and logs in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Training & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Provide training to internal teams on quality systems, regulatory compliance, labeling requirements, and SOPs.
Collaborate with Production, R&D, Procurement, Marketing, Customer Service, and external partners to support product quality and compliance.
Address customer complaints related to quality and ensure proper resolution and communication.
