Fluid & Thermal engineer - Pump package development

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We are seeking an experienced Fluid & Thermal Engineer to join our Thermal Control System team. You will lead the development, justification, and qualification of the pump package for spacecraft thermal control system application. You will work closely with our Mechanical, CAD, AIT and Avionics engineers to optimize together the vehicle design and performance. You will be part of the Vehicle Design Team and will report to the Principal Thermal Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the design and development of the pump package

• Define technical requirements and specifications for the hardware

• Define the accommodation of the pump package into the overall vehicle architecture

• Determine the thermal load cases through the entire system lifecycle

• Prepare the development plan for hardware

• Prepare documentation and drive design reviews and ensure compliance with sub-system requirements.

• Lead co-engineering sessions with suppliers to ensure technical consistency of design, manufacturing, and testing phases.

• Monitor progress and collaborate with suppliers and various teams to resolve technical issues.

• To prepare and carry out the test campaigns: test plan definition, support to assembly, conducting the tests, exploitation for simulation comparison and calibration

• To effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data

What we would love to see from you:

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in aerospace engineering, heat transfer and fluid mechanics, or another related field

• Minimum of 7 years of experience working in aerospace industry

• Strong experience of thermal management and active thermal control system

• Proven experience with hardware development

• Experience with several thermal software (Thermal Desktop, ESATAN) is strongly appreciated

• Experience with CFD (Fluent or equivalent) is a plus

• Fluent in English. German, French and Italian are an asset
