Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all company vehicles and equipment supporting our Landscaping and Snow Removal operations. This role is critical to keeping our fleet reliable, compliant, and ready for daily field operations.
The Fleet Maintenance Manager leads and supports our mechanics while managing preventive maintenance programs, controlling costs, reducing downtime, and extending the life of company assets. This position blends hands-on mechanical knowledge with strong leadership, organization, and planning.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Preventive Maintenance
Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for trucks, trailers, mowers, and snow removal equipment
Ensure fleet availability to support daily field operations with minimal downtime
Track mileage, usage, inspections, and service intervals using fleet management software
Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards
Repairs & Service Management
Diagnose mechanical issues and coordinate timely in-house or outsourced repairs
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, warranties, and service history
Work with vendors and service providers to secure cost-effective, high-quality repairs
Inventory, Fuel & Procurement
Manage inventory of parts, fluids, tools, and shop supplies
Monitor fuel usage and implement efficiency and cost-control strategies
Recommend replacement or purchase of new vehicles and equipment based on operational needs and lifecycle analysis
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Conduct routine inspections, audits, and safety checks of fleet assets
Train and coach staff on proper equipment operation, care, and safety procedures
Budgeting & Reporting
Develop and manage the fleet maintenance budget
Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, costs, downtime, and maintenance trends
Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and process optimization
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of management experience in fleet maintenance, automotive repair, or equipment maintenance
(Landscaping, snow removal, construction, or similar industries preferred)
Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, diesel engines, and small engine repair
Solid understanding of DOT regulations and OSHA safety standards
Proven ability to lead, train, and support mechanics or equipment operators
Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
Proficiency with fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite
Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred)
Bilingual English / Spanish strongly preferred
