Job Description

Ko wai mātou - About us:

Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders since 1885. Today, our 11,000-strong team of kaimahi and volunteer works across Aotearoa to enhance the health and wellbeing of our communities. From responding to 111 calls to supporting people to stay healthy through our mahi in health education, access, and monitoring, we are making life-changing differences every day.

Ko wai mātou - About us:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated First Aid Tutor to join our training team in Blenheim, New Zealand. As a First Aid Tutor, you will deliver engaging and high-quality first aid training courses to both corporate clients and members of the general public.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your community by equipping individuals with life-saving skills and knowledge. You will work in a supportive, collaborative environment where your passion for education and commitment to learner success are truly valued.

• Deliver comprehensive first aid training courses to diverse audiences, ensuring content is engaging, accessible, and results-driven
• Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support skill development and confidence building
• Maintain detailed records of course attendance, learner performance, and training outcomes
• Collaborate with colleagues and organisational leadership to continuously improve training delivery and course content
• Stay current with first aid protocols, best practices, and relevant regulatory requirements through ongoing professional development
• Provide exceptional customer service to course participants and corporate clients, addressing questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy

This is a permanent, part-time position working 20 hours/week. Travel within the Blenheim region will be as needed to deliver training at client locations.

We deliver courses 7 days a week so, although not regular, some weekend work is necessary. Your days can be long so you will need to be available outside of a usual 9-5 day. We ensure you are given rostered days/hours off to compensate for any additional hours.

Your hard work will be rewarded by a great starting salary of $62,944, with an increase once signed off to teach independently to $64,504. You'll also receive uniform, professional development, great work stories, and the deep satisfaction that comes from making a life changing difference to individuals in your community.

Ko wai koe - About you:

• Ideally, experience in adult education, workshop facilitation, or training delivery
• Full driver's license with confidence and reliability on the road
• Current, valid First Aid certification/qualification (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire)
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with and motivate people from all backgrounds and experience levels
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engagingly
• Outstanding organisational and planning skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Flexibility and adaptability to work outside standard business hours when required
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning and commitment to completing relevant adult education qualifications
• Strong commitment to inclusive, supportive, and empathetic teaching practices
