Looking for a Firewall Engineer fully remote, anywhere in Romania.

Responsibilities::
• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-grade firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point)
• Configure and maintain firewall policies, NAT rules, VPNs, and threat prevention features
• Perform regular rulebase reviews, cleanup, and optimization to ensure performance and compliance
• Lead firewall migration and modernization projects, including transitioning from legacy platforms to next-gen firewalls
• Integrate firewall solutions with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and support hybrid connectivity
• Implement automation and orchestration for firewall provisioning and policy management
• Collaborate with network architects to design secure segmentation and Zero Trust architectures
• Support secure connectivity across data centers, branch offices, and cloud platforms
• Monitor and respond to firewall-related security events and vulnerabilities
• Ensure firewall configurations align with security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
• Document firewall designs, change controls, and operational procedures
• Participate in audits and provide evidence of firewall compliance

Requirements::
• Proven experience managing enterprise firewall platforms (e.g. Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, Check Point)
• Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, VPN technologies, and security principles
• Experience with cloud-native firewall solutions (e.g. Azure Firewall, AWS Network Firewall)
• Familiarity with automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform) and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash)
• Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001) and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS)
• Experience in infrastructure transformation and modernization initiatives
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Capable of analysing business and technical requirements and design/Implement project based on defined processes
• Demonstrated strong personal mastery, including ethics, interpersonal skills, and engagement in continuous learning
• Able to communicate and present complex issues with assurance and confidence
• Ability to drive troubleshooting calls and have good skills in questioning, listening, idea development and influencing
• Ability to work with a team to provide written documentation and skills transfer to the larger technical organization
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus
• Experience with SIEM and threat detection platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel) (nice to have)
