About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Finishing Grader Operator to join our civil road construction team. This role is critical to final road shaping, achieving precise grade tolerances, and ensuring a high-quality finished surface. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, reliable, and skilled at working independently in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate motor grader with accuracy for final grade and surface finishing, specifically Cat 14M, Cat 14H, Cat 14M with GPS.
Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and survey markings
Communicate with gravel trucks
Work closely with foremen, surveyors, and other equipment operators
Ensure slopes, crowns, and drainage features are shaped to specification
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance
Follow safety policies, traffic control requirements, and jobsite protocols
Support crew operations as needed to meet schedule and quality goals
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum 3 years’ experience operating a finishing grader on road construction projects
Proven ability to achieve final grade tolerances within millimeters
Strong understanding of civil construction and road building practices
Ability to work on tight timelines and changing site conditions
Valid driver’s license (Class 5 minimum; Class 3 or Class 1 an asset)
Safety certifications (e.g., CSTS, First Aid, WHMIS) an asset
Physically fit and comfortable working long shifts in all weather conditions.
