Job Description

Plans, schedules, and managing the strategy and workflow of the Alternatives Investment group.  Maintains strong relationships with onshore stakeholders.  Evaluates and recommends process improvements, resulting in better service delivery and cost reduction to Bank.

Detailed Description:

• Plans, schedules, and manages the daily workflow of group of large team
• Act as a source of technical support and guidance to the team, other State Street internal teams and the client. This includes reviewing of files prepared by the teams
• Support the MD in ensuring departmental needs are delivered, monitored and risks are addressed
• Serve as 2nd level of escalation for any client service matters including management and oversight of key client relationships, working closely with client relationship managers and counterparts in other internal departments to ensure seamless and coordinated service delivery by State Street.
• Set individual and team targets and priorities; maintain high standards of service; conduct performance appraisals and give feedback on individual and team performance.
• Ensures timely and accurate production of financial statements and related regulatory filings, as applicable, for each client relationship.
• Maintains positive relationships with clients and State Street coworkers.
• Sets clear client expectations and engages in pro-active communication with onshore teams to meet and balance their expectations.
• Oversee the effective coordination of activities with other departments.
• Ensure all personnel are appropriately selected, thoroughly trained and given timely and complete performance evaluation feedback.
• Ensures all controls and procedures are adhered to as well as makes recommendations for changes.
• Facilitates the successful start-up of new funds and conversion of new clients. Ensures thorough, proper planning and coordination.
• Ensures effective use of reporting system and makes recommendations for system enhancements.
• Remains informed of regulatory changes and new industry and competitor developments.
• Evaluate staffing needs while continually striving for greater efficiency.
• Develop internal training classes with the training liaison.
•  Design and continuously improve processes to ensure operational readiness and to address regulatory/process changes
• Representing State Street to external parties as necessary
• Define risk environment for business units and ensure appropriate action is initiated and executed to minimize risk
• Perform other duties as required in order to meet client and department deliverables/goals

Experience & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting or related field required.  15 years+ experience, financial services preferred.  4-7 years supervisory experience required. 

• Prior Fund Accounting and/or Financial Reporting experience preferred. (Big 4 Funds audit manager (or strong assistant manager) / supervisory role at other fund administrators), CPA a plus.

• Experience with recruitment, retention and performance management of a team.

• Experience in managing team members and overall supervision of teams and client deliverables.

• Strong computer skills – advanced knowledge of Microsoft office.

• Proven track record in managing large scale offshoring initiatives

• Strong analytical skills.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Strong people management skills.

• Strong time / project management skills (ability to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner).

• Attention to detail.

• Ability to see bigger picture, take initiative and offer solutions.
• High degree of sense of ownership of the tasks delegated to the team.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis of incidents and come up with related action plans to address the issue
