Company Profile:
Our client specializes in sea cucumber and mangrove crab hatchery operations, extensive grow-out farming, and facilitating trade in international markets. They aim to achieve a triple positive impact. This includes a positive impact on communities by improving employment and livelihoods, a positive impact on the
environment by supporting marine conservation and protecting biodiversity, and by ensuring long-term profitability for both the communities and the MPAs (Marine Protected Areas) they managed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Financial Officer supports day to day financial control, reporting, and performance monitoring at operational and commercial level. The role ensures strong cost control, budgeting discipline, and data accuracy across farms, sites, and projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Cost Control
· Monitor operational expenses at farm/site level.
· Review and validate Purchase Orders (POs) before submission to the central accounting team.
· Ensure procurement prices are aligned with negotiated terms and prevailing market prices.
· Support basic due diligence on suppliers, including price comparison and documentation checks.
· Verify cost allocations and ensure proper linkage to operations (farms, sites, projects).
· Track input usage, wastage, and efficiency indicators.
· Follow up with operations teams on missing or inconsistent documentation.
· Identify cost overruns and report deviations to management.
2. Commercial Reporting & Performance Analysis
· Update and maintain commercial dashboards sales margins volume customer and product performance.
· Provide pricing margin and customer profitability insights.
· Track sales versus harvest and forecast and highlight commercial variances.
· Support the commercial team with data for negotiation planning and forecasting.
· Validate sales and revenue related data before it is processed by the Manila team.
3. Data Validation & Coordination with Manila Finance Team
· Ensure accuracy and timely submission of operational and commercial data sent to Manila.
· Provide clarification to Manila for PO validation, cost allocations, or missing supporting documents.
· Ensure field and commercial data aligns with the central accounting system.
· Act as the local point of contact for finance-related operational issues.
4. Internal Controls (Local Operational Scope)
· Ensure proper approval workflows for POs and operational expenditures.
· Monitor adherence to procurement, spending, and operational policies.
· Highlight anomalies non-compliant spending patterns or pricing inconsistencies.
5. Business Support
· Work closely with farm managers, operations heads, and the commercial team.
· Support budgeting exercises and operational cost projections.
· Provide simple financial models and operational cost projections when needed.
· Deliver weekly operational and commercial insights to help drive performance.
· Support operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Operational & Commercial Forecasting (Light Scope)
· Support operations with simple volume projections such as expected farm output or activity levels.
· Assist the commercial team in updating sales forecasts based on pipeline orders and historical trends.
· Prepare cost projections linked to planned operational activities inputs labor farm cycles.
· Perform monthly variance analysis between budgeted and actual revenue forecast, OPEX and CAPEX.
· Ensure forecast assumptions are aligned with field data before sharing with the Manila Finance Team.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
• At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting
• Experience in cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and data reporting tools.
• Ability to collaborate with both operations and commercial teams.
• Comfortable working with data from field teams and validating it for accuracy.
Preferred Skills / Competencies
• Experience with PO systems or procurement workflows.
• Exposure to cost control in an operational environment (FMCG, agriculture, manufacturing, etc.).
• Experience in budget tracking OPEX CAPEX monitoring and variance analysis.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial concepts to non‑finance colleagues.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑moving operational environment.
