Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the financial affairs of Japan & South Korea business unit and provide the relevant financial & commercial support to the Japan & South Korea Country Manager. The main reporting line will be into the Finance Director, International Markets (Melbourne, Australia), with a business partnering role with the Country Manager on the day-to-day operational functions of the business. This is a hands-on role supported by an accounting and an admin resource based in Tokyo, both of whom report into this position. Leading and managing these resources on a day-to-day basis is required.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the business unit's Financial & Management accounting, including cash flow & treasury management and balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure all financial activities of Japan & South Korea are reported accurately and timely in accordance with corporate policies and month-end timeframes
• Process Japan & South Korea financial results into JDE
• Prepare Japan & South Korea monthly results management reporting
• Manage Japan & South Korea monthly forecasting and annual budgeting in PBCS
• Conduct Japan & South Korea monthly country review analysis and reporting
• Manage external service providers in Japan and South Korea
• Review and sign off on all commercial project financials in partnership with the Country Manager within corporate authority guidelines
• Support the International Markets Finance Director on various other financial, commercial & operational tasks in the region as and when required
• Support the Country Manager and Operations Manager on various commercial initiatives and activities relative to projects, team resources and business development efforts
Key Experience Requirements
• Ability to speak and converse in both English & Japanese
• Qualified Accountant to Japanese Accounting Standards with circa 5-10 years experience
• Experienced in Project Management/Professional Services environment, with key understanding of multiple Project P&Ls, resource allocation, etc.
• Experienced user with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
• Ability to implement corporate controls and standards across Japan & South Korea operations
• Ability to business partner with the Country Manager
• Maturity to challenge and add value to local decision making
• Ability to work independently without supervision and manage resources
• Ability to perform a broader operations role
