Job Purpose
As the Financial Controller you will have responsibility for leading the management and financial reporting function for HICL, plus its financial and treasury management. You will also have oversight of DGI9’s financial reporting and there will be frequent involvement in several key external relationships, including 3rd party service providers, banks, depositary and auditors.
Key Job Responsibilities
Financial aspects of HICL’s semi-annual IFRS published accounts, including managing the audit process, drafting relevant sections and reviewing accounting policies
Accounting policies, processes and financial controls for HICL and c.40 intermediate holding companies
Managing the HICL/Core funds finance team with 3 – 4 direct reports
Production of HICL’s quarterly management accounts and board papers, and statutory accounts of intermediate holding companies
Oversight of DGI9’s semi-annual financial reporting
Financial and treasury cash management, including FX hedging management, monitoring investment receipts and managing withholding tax requirements
Tax compliance, bank reporting, depositary reporting and covenant compliance reports
Managing HICL’s banking relationships
Working with wider InfraRed business to identify efficiencies and process improvements
Assisting with the establishment of investment vehicles, particularly set-up of bank accounts, tax registrations, administrator appointments, local accountant appointments
Managing relationships with accounting service providers, including in the UK, Luxembourg, Canada, France and the US
Skills and Qualifications
Holds a technical accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a minimum of ten years’ experience post qualifying
Preferably experience of working in PFI industry, infrastructure and/or investment companies ideally for a public listed entity
Educated to a degree level or equivalent is preferred
Experience of team management, coaching junior accountants
Advanced user of Excel, Visual Basic an advantage
Highly numerate, possesses an eye for detail and consistency and is proactive in approach to problem solving
Track record in working under pressure and being able to prioritise and adapt to change
Enthusiastic, organised and flexible, a team player who interacts well with the team and with others in the business
Strong project and relationship management skills
Ability to communicate with all levels of management
Well organised and able to prioritise multiple tasks to tight deadlines
