What are we looking for
Reporting to the Head of Accounting and Control, this key finance role will support the Controlling and Accounting function by playing a key role in preparing financial statements and ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of international financial reporting standards (IFRSs), UK tax legislation and overseas tax legislation.
Responsibilities
Preparation of yearly financial statements for group entities, including consolidated financial statements under IFRS and UK GAAP
Preparation of half yearly financial statements for inclusion in the interim announcement
Liaise with third parties, including but not limited to, external auditors and tax advisors, to ensure on-time, compliant submissions
Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, including co-ordinating timelines, managing audit requests and overseeing preparation of audit schedules
Serve as the primary contact for external tax advisors, including co-ordinating timelines, managing information requests and overseeing completion of annual return
Oversee preparation and submission of VAT returns, including overseas returns
Manage cash requirements across the group, always ensuring adherence to the Treasury Policy
Support cross border VAT and tax compliance in collaboration with external tax advisors
Support the payroll team in matters of double taxation
Support the Strategy team with grant applications and submissions, including reviewing and preparing financial information
Oversee preparation and submission of the R&D tax submissions
Provide accounting technical support to the business
Support other members of the finance team
Perform periodic reviews of the balance sheet to ensure adherence to financial reporting standards
Support the Head of Accounting and Control in designing, implementing and improving the financial control structure
About You
Knowledge and Experience
Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA), preferably audit trained
Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK regulatory requirements for listed companies
Experience in supporting external auditors
Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and multi-currency environments
Experience with international tax legislations (mainly EU legislations)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial software
Skills and Abilities
Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
High level of integrity and professionalism
Ability to manage multiple deadlines
High attention to detail
