Position Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Service Delivery the incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of financial functions by providing the following key activities.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure invoices are reviewed, assessed and paid in a timely manner, and are documented for proper tracking, and ensure elimination of duplicate payment.
Process cheques and travel requisitions.
Coding and entering financial information into Excel spreadsheets.
Ensure all invoices are reconciled with purchase orders.
Ensure cheques receive proper signing authority, and are distributed in a timely manner.
Respond to internal and external inquires in a pleasant and professional manner.
Setting up accounts with various vendors.
Maintain Petty Cash by reconciling receipts to expenses and replenishment
Develop and maintain easy access filing system related to accounts payable, supplier agreements and/or contracts.
Knowledgeable of financial terms, general ledgers, cost-share, department codes, etc.
Develop excellent working relationships with suppliers.
Assist in the development of budgets and calculating salaries and MERC’s formula.
Dependable, punctual and reliable with professional ethics.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Post-secondary education in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Excellent knowledge of Sage computer accounting systems, Microsoft Excel and Word.
Excellent written, communication and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to work in a First Nations environment.
Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
Must be able to work flexible hours and be able to travel upon request.
Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse check
Adhere to Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs’ policies and procedures and Financial Policy Manual.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and vehicle is an asset but not
