SCOPE:
The Finance Clerk is responsible for the maintenance of the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) books of account in accordance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and with ONWA policies and procedures. Finance Clerks provide both clerical support to the Finance Manager and financial management activities for the entire Finance portfolio as required. Their responsibilities include performance of regular accounting and administrative functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, filing, and data entry. The Finance Clerk is under the direct, daily supervision of the Finance Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A post-secondary diploma/ and/or equivalent 3 (three) years’ work experience in the area relevant to Finance Administration and/or Business Administration.
Experience with all aspects of financial management including accounts payable/ receivable and purchase orders in a Not- for- Profit setting.
Working knowledge of Sage 50/300 and MS Office, proficiency in Excel is a must. Experience with accounting software and applications.
Willing to learn other areas of the finance department
Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
Knowledge of Federal/Provincial laws.
Knowledge of Indigenous Governance structure and Indigenous communities.
Excellent organizational skills; demonstrated self-confidence and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently within strict deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communications and is able to seek and offer assistance in providing solutions.
Demonstrated excellent administrative ability.
Professionalism in dealing with sensitive information while maintaining the utmost of confidentiality information.
Honest and leads with a sense of integrity
Excellent work ethic, can be relied upon, is punctual, dependable and motivated to provide quality work
Ability to speak Indigenous language considered an asset.
Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
A cellular phone and internet access is required within this position
Must be willing and able to work a flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.

The full salary range for this role is $43,700 - $53,497.60 ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
