The Finance Business Partner China is key member of the Global Supply Chain & Strategy (GSCS) Finance team, playing an important role within the wider Operations Finance Organisation focused on China, the role reports to the Head of Finance for Global Supply Chain & Strategy.
The accountability of this role is to drive strong financial strategic rigour in Global Operations increasing investment, business development and site establishment in China. The role will be responsible for delivering high quality financial analysis and business cases. Requiring collaborative but challenging partnerships with GSCs team, Engineering, the Commercial China Marketing Company, wider Operations team and the GSCS/Operations finance team.
The role will require end to end accountability and presenting to executive level leadership, playing a key AZ enterprise role in influencing the correct financial decisions and strategic thinking. As the strategic decisions my include trade-offs between SET areas – an enterprise mindset is essential.
The role requires a strong analytical mind, excellent communication and influencing capabilities to crystalise and distil financial insights into high quality decisions. Requiring excellent financial decision-making/analytics/ NPV’s capabilities, coupled with a strong understanding of supply chain and manufacturing financials.
The successful candidate will be able to confidently and independently interact with senior leaders across SET areas, working (collaborating and influencing) external parties as required and interact seamlessly both within Operations as well as into Commercial and R&D.
AstraZeneca Operations manages a network of ~30manufacturing sites and in addition sources material from ~200 CMOs. Global Supply Chain and Strategy (GSCS) has end to end accountability for the design and delivery of AstraZeneca’s brand supply chains.
Typical Accountabilities
The role includes the following key components:
• Business Decision Making: To drive (end to end) key business & investment decisions in Global Supply Chain through delivering high quality business cases, advising and guiding senior business leaders leading to high quality strategic decisions. Influencing and challenging with confidence Executive level stakeholders, across SET areas on key decisions.
• Operations Establishment: Deliver the early stages of plant establishments across AZs operations and partnerships with other China-based pharmaceutical companies.
• Provide Seamless Transition of the financial management of new Operations sites over to Regional Operations Finance.
• Continuous Improvement, Governance and Coaching: To take a lead in driving continuous improvement in Finance processes and capabilities and to lead financial risk management and financial governance in area of accountability. Play a key role to support the attraction and downstream planning of Finance talent.
• Business Process management & ways of working: To ensure that the Supply Chain Finance ways of working optimally supports and integrates into business supply chain processes as well as wider Group finance/Commercial/Global Finance Services processes

• Feedback from cross SET stakeholders
• Quality of business cases and quality of Investment decisions
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
• Successful business partnering and impactful influencing with VP/executive level stakeholders
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and business case development
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including oral & written & excellent interpersonal skills – cross function, cross geographies
• Strong drive, ability to connect to the changing needs of the business and forward thinking in creation of solution development
• Experience of delivering Investment business cases
• Certified/Qualified Finance Professional or equivalent working experience
Desirable
• Line management experience or demonstrated aptitude to lead, motivate and develop individuals and teams
• Experience of process ownership and continuous development of process and ways of workings
• Experience of working in a global pharmaceutical organisation
