Job Description
Supporting Agriculture Specialists and Soil Scientists by collecting various Agri-samples (soil, leaves, water, etc.) according to standardised SOP’s and sending the samples and related paperwork to the relevant lab for analysis. This position is based in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal.
Main Responsibilities
Collect soil, water, leave, petiole, etc. samples from various farms as per relevant SOP.
Capture location data on Trimble or MYFARMWEB™ CAPTURE.
Complete the relevant online job card for every sample collected by accurately capturing data on the relevant form.
Ensure samples are sent to the correct laboratories.
Complete weekly machine checklists.
Ad Hoc or other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Capabilities
Computer literate
Full professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (speaking and writing)
Able to lift and carry > 12 pounds/6kg comfortably
Excellent attention to detail
Comfortable with routine work but flexible enough to adjust to ad hoc situations
Able to work under pressure
Excellent communication skills
Effective organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
Able to work in a team environment as well as on your own
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
National Senior Certificate
Agriculture Qualification will be advantageous
Experience
Experience with agriculture will be advantageous
Other specific requirements
Must own or be able to acquire a suitable pickup truck (bakkie)
Must be available to work every second Saturday, as required
Must be willing to travel extensively, both locally and internationally
Must be prepared to work long hours when necessary
Preference will be given to candidates residing in the area as no relocation assistance will be provided.
