Responsibilities will include:
Commercial Support & Stakeholder Engagement
Represent SubSea Craft with military, government, and industry stakeholders during deployments, demonstrations, and customer engagements.
Support commercial teams by providing operational and technical context during customer discussions, evaluations, and trials.
Identify emerging customer needs, integration challenges, and follow-on opportunities, feeding insight into commercial strategy, product development, and future bids.
Contribute to post-activity reporting, customer debriefs, and engagement planning to support pipeline development and long-term partnerships.
Build customer confidence through professional delivery, technical credibility, and reliable performance in the field.
Operator Enablement & Technical Integration
Act as the on-site technical interface between end users, engineers, programme teams, and customer stakeholders.
Support operator training, system familiarisation, and live activity execution.
Translate operational intent and customer requirements into actionable technical feedback for engineering and product teams.
Support platform integration and refinement by closing the loop between operational use and technical development.
Deployment, Logistics & Technical Execution
Plan, coordinate, and execute the end-to-end deployment of SubSea Craft platforms for demonstrations, exercises, and operational activities in the UK and internationally.
Prepare, configure, deploy, maintain, fault-find, and recover platforms and supporting systems in operationally relevant environments.
Manage shipment lifecycles, including transportation planning, coordination with logistics teams, and advance party / remain-behind support for mobilisation and recovery.
Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to customs, export controls, and regulatory requirements.
Safety, Risk & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to risk assessments, support trial plans and safety planning for expeditionary activities.
Operate in accordance with company HSE, maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
Identify and resolve technical, logistical, and operational challenges to maintain deployment timelines and contractual commitments.
Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across technical delivery, deployment processes, and customer outcomes.
Team & Leadership
Operate under Mission Success leadership or independently during expeditionary deployments, remaining closely connected to UK-based teams.
Support and, where required, lead small expeditionary teams, communicating clearly across engineering, commercial, and operational functions.
Escalate technical, safety, or operational risks appropriately through the reporting chain.
Complement and support the Subsea Craft trials team by collaborating and overlapping activities where required.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
Military, maritime, or defence industry background
UK-based, with the willingness and ability to travel overseas in support of expeditionary activities
Experience in maritime, expeditionary, field-based, trials, or system integration roles
Full UK driving licence
Experience operating unmanned systems (e.g. USVs, UAVs, UUVs)
Working knowledge of autonomous systems communications, including line-of-sight (LOS), and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) architectures.
Strong problem-solving skills in dynamic, operational environments
Strong understanding of health and safety and safe systems of work
Clear written and verbal communication skills
IT proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams)
Eligible to hold UK Security Check (SC) clearance
Desirable
Experience operating and/or maintaining unmanned surface vessels (USVs)
MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship) qualification or equivalent experience
Experience operating RPAS/UAVs
GVC or equivalent Civil Aviation Authority-recognised competency
Commercially endorsed, or eligible for commercial endorsement, as an RYA Advanced Powerboat or higher
Experience supporting diving or subsea operations
Experience supporting business development or customer-facing activities
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum Existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with Security Check likely for specific projects.*
