Job Description
We are looking for a Field Service Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial packaging equipment. This role works directly with customers on-site, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues while ensuring equipment operates efficiently. The position involves a mix of field service, customer interaction, and technical problem-solving across a variety of packaging systems. This is ideal for someone hands-on who enjoys travel and working with complex machinery in real-world environments.
Responsibilities
• Install, service, and maintain end-of-line packaging machinery at customer sites
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues to identify root causes and implement solutions
• Perform equipment modifications including PLC updates and servo system adjustments
• Train customer personnel on proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment
• Complete detailed service reports, punch lists, and performance documentation
• Communicate regularly with internal technical teams regarding job status, delays, and field issues
• Identify opportunities for additional parts, upgrades, or equipment sales while in the field
• Support in-house technical work including final testing and equipment preparation when required
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure high satisfaction levels
• Follow all safety protocols and represent the company professionally at all times
Requirements:
• 1+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing machinery, equipment, or similar systems
• Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, schematics, and mechanical systems
• Understanding of pneumatic systems and industrial equipment operation
• Experience with packaging machinery or similar industrial equipment preferred
• Familiarity with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred) and HMI systems is a plus
• Ability to travel regionally and occasionally nationwide (up to ~50% travel)
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills in customer-facing environments
• High school diploma required; technical degree in electronics, mechatronics, or related field preferred
