We are looking for a Field Service Technician to install, service, and maintain automated packaging equipment at customer sites. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, and system optimization to ensure equipment performs reliably in production environments. The position combines hands-on mechanical and electrical work with customer training and technical support. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys problem-solving, travel, and working directly with industrial systems.
Responsibilities
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain packaging machinery and automated systems at customer locations
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational issues and implement effective solutions
• Perform equipment modifications including wiring updates, PLC programming changes, and servo system adjustments
• Train customer personnel on equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and repair procedures
• Submit detailed service reports outlining system performance, issues, and recommended improvements
• Identify opportunities for additional parts, service work, or equipment upgrades during site visits
• Submit accurate and timely expense reports and time tracking documentation
• Communicate daily with internal service teams regarding job status, delays, and completion timelines
• Support in-house activities including equipment testing, final inspections, and technical support
• Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver high levels of service satisfaction
• Collaborate with internal teams including service, parts, and sales to support customer needs
Requirements:
• High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
• 1+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment, machinery, or similar systems
• Experience working with packaging or industrial equipment preferred
• Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, schematics, and control systems
• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, PanelView HMIs, or servo systems preferred
• Strong communication skills and customer-facing experience
• Ability to travel locally (up to 70%) and nationally (up to 10%)
• Ability to lift 50–80 lbs and safely work at heights, including ladder use
• Forklift experience preferred
