The U.S. Federal Governments Markets Division (USFGMD) is chartered with being the premier, compliant supplier of world-class communications solutions to the U.S. Federal Government by providing the highest quality products, systems and services. The Federal Systems Technology Department of the USFGMD is responsible for service supporting a charter of implementing and integrating complex systems sold worldwide to the U.S. Federal Government. As a USFGMD System Upgrade Agreement Field Service Technician (FST), you will be exposed to a wide variety of communications requirements in both the Presale, Post Sale, and sustainment/life cycle phases of a project. These applications span the entire breadth of the U.S. Federal Government throughout the world.

Job Description

The Navy ELMR represents the world's most extensive and intricate ASTRO system. The military program (System Upgrade Agreement/SUA) Field Support Team (FST) plays a crucial, hands-on role in achieving communication objectives. Working closely with other FSTs and Engineers, the SUA FST is responsible for both the strategic design and the daily execution of technical efforts, including developing a strategy for and then carrying out the various upgrades, migrations, and system expansion plans. Additionally, SUA FST members may be required to provide assistance with preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve break-fix issues, and support other programs as needed.

• Provide on-site and remote upgrades and troubleshooting of Motorola ASTRO systems.
• Demonstrate and leverage expertise in ASTRO core applications (UNC, PM, UEM, ESXi, IMW, KMF, HBSS, and PKI).
• Administer and troubleshoot within an IT environment.
• Execute Motorola ASTRO upgrades.
• Collaborate with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Support).
• Contribute to preventative maintenance and break-fix activities.
• Participate in the execution of upgrade and migration strategies.
• Proficiently utilize Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Apply knowledge of Motorola ASTRO technologies, including networking, cybersecurity principles, Active Directory administration, and LMR communications.
• Administer and troubleshoot IP networks.
• Effectively manage and troubleshoot issues within an IT environment.
• Maintain meticulous organization and attention to detail.
• Utilize CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCSE, or CISSP certification knowledge (as applicable).
• Manage and utilize Host Based Security Systems (HBSS).
• Support CAC/PIV authentication-based systems.
• Execute Motorola ASTRO upgrades (as applicable based on experience level).
• Lift and move equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.

Candidate Requirements:

• Must be capable of obtaining an acceptable adjudication of DOD Secret (T3) Clearance within 18 months of initial employment date
• Complete standard form SF86 questionnaire and fingerprinting for national security positions
• Must obtain either a CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification or Certified Electronics Technician within first 12 months of employment
• Experience with US Military communications
• Hands-on experience with Motorola ASTRO technology including Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee security suite, MCC7500 dispatch, NICE Logging etc.

​Travel/Location:

• Travel internationally and domestically up to 75% - 80% of the time is required
• This position is remote and can be performed from most continental US states. Any residence relocation or long-term home office location requires management and MSI HR approval
• A permanent residence based 60 miles or less from a mid to large class International Airport is required.
• Ability to obtain/hold a U.S. Passport, International Drivers Permit, and the ability to legally drive and rent a vehicle as needed.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

• 2+ years of experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, Radio Communications, System Administration, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, IT, IT Systems, Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee Security Suite, MCC7500 Dispatch, NICE Logging, E911, Dispatch, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking equipment or Military experience

• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by our government contracts.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
