Field Service Technician
Location: Ohio-Based | 75%+ Travel
Department: Field Service
Reports To: Senior Manager, Field & Service Programs
Starting Rate: $40.00/hour (higher based on experience)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of power distribution equipment. This is a direct hire opportunity, offering long-term stability and growth.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and working independently in the field. Frequent travel is required, along with strong communication and professionalism when working with customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Commissioning
• Install and support startup of power distribution systems
• Perform system verification, testing, and commissioning activities
• Configure and troubleshoot HMIs and control interfaces
• Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards
Troubleshooting & Repair
• Diagnose and repair issues with 3-phase power systems, transformers, and electrical components
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
• Perform root-cause troubleshooting in live environments
Customer Interaction & Support
• Serve as the primary point of contact onsite
• Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams
• Provide training and support to operators and maintenance personnel
Documentation & Reporting
• Complete service reports with accuracy and detail
• Track labor, parts, and service activities
• Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3+ years of field service, electrical service, or related experience
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Experience working with 24V, 120V, and 480V systems
• Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
• Willingness to travel 75%+
• Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
• Experience with power distribution equipment (UPS, switchgear, transformers, etc.)
• Basic PLC or HMI troubleshooting experience
• Commissioning or startup experience
• OSHA or safety training
