Field Service Engineer (FSE)
Location: Ohio-Based | 75%+ Travel
Department: Field Service
Reports To: Senior Manager, Field & Service Programs
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, technically skilled Field Service Engineer to support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service of mission-critical power distribution equipment in data center environments.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working independently in the field, and being part of a collaborative team. You’ll represent the company onsite, ensuring systems perform reliably while building strong customer relationships through professionalism and follow-through.
Installation & Commissioning:
• Install and support startup of power distribution systems in data centers
• Support startup and commissioning activities including system verification and functional testing
• Perform system verification, functional testing, and commissioning support
• Configure and troubleshoot HMIs and control interfaces
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards
Troubleshooting & Repair:
• Diagnose and repair issues involving 3-phase power systems, transformers, high-voltage components, and switchgear/distribution equipment
• Interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
• Perform systematic root-cause troubleshooting in live infrastructure environments
Customer & Team Support:
• Serve as the primary technical contact onsite
• Partner with engineering and internal teams to resolve issues effectively
• Train operators and maintenance personnel
• Provide clear, professional communication regarding system status and next steps both verbally and in writing via email and reports
Documentation & Continuous Improvement:
• Complete service reports with technical accuracy and clarity
• Identify recurring issues and provide feedback to improve products and processes
• Track parts usage, labor hours, and service activities and log all activities in our system of record
• Support development of service procedures and technical documentation
• Contribute to training materials and internal knowledge base
• Other duties as assigned.
Required:
• 3–7+ years of experience in field service, electrical service, or similar role
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Working knowledge of 24V, 120V, 480V systems; basic PLC troubleshooting; fuses, breakers, and transformers
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Willingness to travel 75%+ (including occasional short-notice travel)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Strong documentation habits and attention to detail
Preferred:
• Experience with data center power infrastructure
• Familiarity with switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, or related equipment
• Commissioning support experience
• OSHA or formal safety training
