Position Summary
The Field Safety Technician (FST) is a hands-on, field-based role that supports RAWSO’s safety and operational goals on active jobsites. This position is ideal for someone who wants to build a career in construction safety, providing consistent field presence and partnering with Superintendents, Foremen, and the Safety Director to reinforce a proactive, compliant safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

Support and drive RAWSO’s safety culture across multiple heavy civil projects in Middle Tennessee

Conduct regular jobsite safety audits, inspections, and observations; coach crews and leaders in real time

Assist Foremen and Superintendents with pre-task planning, JHAs/JSAs, and daily safety huddles

Lead and support incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up

Coordinate and deliver safety training, onboarding/orientation, and toolbox talks

Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection reports, training records, and regulatory logs

Monitor compliance with OSHA Construction standards and company safety policies, recommending improvements

Help ensure safe use of heavy equipment, excavation/trenching, traffic control, and other high-risk activities

What You’ll Bring

Solid working knowledge of OSHA Construction standards and field safety best practices

OSHA 30, CHST, or similar safety credentials preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Comfortable in the field: walking jobsites, climbing in and out of trenches, and being around heavy equipment

Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence without authority

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to jobsites across Middle Tennessee

Preferred:

OSHA 30-Hour Construction

OSHA-510

CPR / First Aid / AED

Trenching & Excavation Competent Person

Fall Protection & Confined Space awareness

Defensive Driving / Fleet Safety

3+ years of safety experience in construction (heavy civil, earthwork, utilities, or roadwork strongly preferred)
