Fiber Splicer

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to join our underground construction team here at Sammons Construction. This role is responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic cable in underground environments while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities

Perform fiber optic splicing (single-mode and multi-mode) in underground handholes, vaults, and enclosures

Read and interpret fiber prints, splice schematics, and construction drawings

Test fiber using OTDR, power meter, and light source equipment

Troubleshoot fiber issues, identify faults, and perform necessary repairs

Label, document, and maintain accurate splice records and as-built documentation

Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and industry standards

Coordinate with construction crews, supervisors, and project managers

Maintain splicing equipment, tools, and vehicles in good working order

Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years of field experience as a fiber splicer.

Strong knowledge of underground fiber systems, enclosures, and splice cases

Experience working in handholes, vaults, and confined spaces

Ability to read and understand fiber design and construction prints

Proficient with OTDR and fiber testing equipment

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
