Job Summary
We are seeking a physically fit and dependable Fence Builder to join our installation team for a local business in Ferndale, Washington. You will be responsible for site preparation, layout measurement, and the full installation of various fencing types. This role requires working outdoors year-round in Washington's varied weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Site Preparation: Clear obstacles from the fence path, measure and lay out fence lines according to specifications, and ensure no underground utility lines are in the area.
Post Installation: Dig post holes using manual or power-driven augers and set posts in concrete, ensuring proper alignment and vertical accuracy.
Fence Assembly: Cut materials to required lengths, install rails, and attach pickets, panels, or wire mesh (chain-link).
Gate Construction: Assemble and hang walk or driveway gates and install necessary hardware.
Maintenance & Repair: Remove old fencing and perform repairs on existing structures to maintain aesthetics and security.
Safety & Logistics: Follow all safety protocols, load and secure materials on work trucks, and maintain a clean job site.
Requirements & Qualifications
Physical: Ability to lift and carry 50-100 lbs regularly and work in a labor-intensive, outdoor environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools (saws, drills, levels) and experience with concrete work.
Legal & Driving: A valid Washington State Driver’s License with a clean record is typically required.
Experience: 1+ years in fencing or general construction is preferred, though entry-level "Apprentice" or "Helper" roles may be available for those willing to learn.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to communicate professionally with customers.
