Feed & Forage Lab Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the management of the Warners, NY laboratory, maintaining customer relations and assisting the sales staff in marketing the services of Dairyland Laboratories in the surrounding area. This position will also assist in NIR calibration development, updates, and reporting. Additional Laboratory management includes, but not be limited to management of staff, property, equipment, services, and expenses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES:

Manage the staff, including training, timekeeping and maintaining a safe work environment

Carries out all employee performance evaluations, coordinating employee vacations and leaves

Maintain good customer service and relations; listen and respond to customer feedback

Assist sales staff in searching for business opportunities; attend trade shows on occasion

Maintain the physical properties of the lab, including maintenance of equipment

Support customers and internal staff by resolving issues between the lab and clients and proactively identifying solutions to meet customer needs

Assist in acquiring and maintaining necessary lab certifications as directed

Maintain open line of communication with Corporate office

Perform quality control/quality assurance

Work with Human Resources to hire, train. staff, coach, and develop staff

Use HRIS program under the direction of HR

Manage expenses

Attend industry functions and participate in customer sponsored meetings as requested

Responsible for assuring policies and procedures are followed at the Warners Lab

Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (Science or Agricultural related), required

Previous supervisory experience, preferred

Previous experience in Animal Nutrition/Ag Business (3-5 yrs), required

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZATIONS REQUIRED:

Valid driver’s license and good driving record that meets our insurance company requirements
