Who We Are Seeking: A passionate and dedicated individual who is committed to advocating for children and providing compassionate care to families. As a Family Caseworker, you will be responsible for case management, advocacy, and service coordination for families involved in child welfare proceedings. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with court orders, facilitate access to culturally appropriate resources, and offer vital family support. You will act as a liaison between families, service providers, legal entities, and external agencies, advocating for Tribal families within both Tribal and state legal systems. Previous Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) experience would be a bonus but not required.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
2 to 3 years of experience is preferred. We are willing to provide training for CNV citizens.
A bachelor’s degree in social work, or a related field is preferred, but can be substituted with two additional years of relevant experience.
Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.
Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines while working independently and with others.
Superb verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
Certificates and Licenses: A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.
Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check: This position requires you to complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
Hiring Preferences: As allowed in P.L. 93-638, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian peoples. CVTC also applies family and local hiring preferences.
