At APAA, our Facilities team plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and efficient work environments across our grounds, buildings, and equipment. This role is essential to supporting daily operations and ensuring our team has the infrastructure needed to succeed.
What the Facility Maintenance Manager Does
The Facility Maintenance Manager oversees and manages APAA’s grounds, buildings, vehicles, and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained work environment. This role leads facility operations, safety compliance, maintenance planning, and vendor coordination while supporting the company’s operational needs and long-term infrastructure planning.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks and work orders.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance; complete repairs or coordinate with vendors as needed.
Collaborate with leadership on facility budgeting and planning.
Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility, equipment, and yard to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Address hazards promptly and maintain accurate safety records.
Create and deliver reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and operational updates.
Prepare facilities for seasonal conditions, including snow and ice removal, lawn care, and weather-related upkeep.
Execute responsibilities outlined in the company’s Snow Mitigation Plan.
Oversee routine and preventative maintenance of company vehicles, including scheduling service and transport logistics.
Ensure proper workplace security measures in coordination with vendors or security professionals.
Monitor the cleanliness and safety of all interior and exterior spaces.
Delegate cleaning, maintenance, and operational tasks to team members.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role manages Facilities Department staff and oversees third-party vendors working on company property.

Maintenance tasks and work orders are completed promptly and effectively.
Safety standards are upheld with proactive inspections and hazard mitigation.
Communication with leadership and staff is clear, timely, and solution-oriented.
The Facilities team operates efficiently under strong leadership and direction.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in facilities and maintenance, including supervisory experience.
Ability to manage, delegate, and oversee team performance.
Strong collaboration skills with leadership and cross-functional teams.
Experience in operational planning and budget development.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace applications.
Valid Alaska driver’s license.
Ability to pass background and reference checks.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to perform skilled maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and landscaping.
Ability to perform custodial duties as needed.
Ability to diagnose and perform minor vehicle repairs (preferred).
Ability to work independently and make decisions aligned with company policies.
Ability to obtain forklift and scissor lift certifications.
Strong leadership and initiative.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, clients, and customers.
Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace applications.
Ability to pass background and reference checks.
Working Conditions & Schedule
This role operates in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to multiple ongoing tasks. Work includes both indoor and outdoor responsibilities, including exposure to varying weather conditions. Occasional overtime may be required.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (8-hour shift + 1-hour unpaid break)
