Position Summary
We are seeking a Mid-Level Facilities Specialist to support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities within secure government facilities at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This position is responsible for coordinating facility operations, maintenance activities, work order management, vendor oversight, inspections, and space management efforts to ensure facilities remain operational, compliant, and mission ready.
The ideal candidate will possess experience supporting facility operations in a government or Department of Defense environment and demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Attend meetings related to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Program and schedule recurring tag-up meetings with stakeholders to provide facility status updates
Coordinate, oversee, and manage repair and maintenance work assignments performed by technicians, contractors, vendors, landscaping personnel, and janitorial staff
Ensure work orders are submitted, tracked, and completed within established timelines and O&M performance metrics
Conduct monthly reviews of work orders and service metrics to verify compliance with operational requirements
Perform facility inspections, quality assurance inspections, and reporting activities while documenting and escalating identified issues or deficiencies
Walk project sites with Project Managers to identify operational concerns, equipment access issues, and impacts to ongoing facility operations
Maintain accountability of Real Property assets and support annual cost and utility consumption reporting requirements for assigned facilities
Coordinate and manage office moves, additions, and change activities while collaborating with Space Management teams to support workspace planning
Obtain vendor proposals for parts, labor, and service requirements and ensure invoices are accurate and processed in a timely manner
Barcode new equipment and enter asset information into the facility integration tool to support preventive maintenance tracking and asset management
Support annual budget planning activities and provide operational input related to facility requirements and expenditures
Utilize facility integration systems and perform daily reviews of open service tickets to ensure prompt resolution and operational continuity
Required Qualifications
Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance required prior to start date
Associate degree in a technical, engineering, architectural, or related field preferred
Minimum of two (2) years of related facilities, operations, maintenance, or property management experience preferred, or four (4) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders
Ability to provide timely, reliable, and customer-focused support in a fast-paced environment
Broad understanding of financial terms, budgeting concepts, and operational reporting
Ability to calculate and analyze intermediate figures such as percentages, costs, and service metrics
Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving abilities
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and internet/intranet applications
Experience utilizing facility integration tools, work order systems, or maintenance management software
Preferred Qualifications
Facility Management certification preferred
Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government facilities
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, real property accountability, and space management processes
Experience coordinating contractors, maintenance vendors, and facility support personnel
Knowledge of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program requirements and quality assurance processes
