Salary: $80,000 - 95,000/year
The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and strategic management of facilities supporting an energy and research organization. This role ensures that laboratories, offices, testing environments, and technical infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
The Facilities Manager will manage building systems, maintenance programs, vendor relationships, and facility improvements while supporting the specialized needs of research teams, engineering staff, and energy-related operations.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day facility operations including building systems, utilities, maintenance, and grounds.
• Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs for mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and life-safety systems.
• Ensure the reliability and uptime of critical facility infrastructure supporting research and energy operations.
• Maintain building systems including HVAC, power distribution, backup power, and environmental controls.
• Support specialized facility requirements for laboratories, research environments, and testing spaces.
• Coordinate infrastructure needs for research equipment, instrumentation, and pilot energy systems.
• Ensure proper environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation) required for scientific operations.
• Work with engineering and research teams to plan facility modifications and technical installations.
• Monitor and manage facility energy usage, efficiency initiatives, and sustainability efforts.
• Coordinate utility systems including electrical distribution, backup generators, water systems, and renewable energy systems where applicable.
• Support energy efficiency improvements and facility performance optimization.
• Manage external service providers, maintenance contractors, and facility vendors.
• Oversee service contracts and ensure compliance with performance expectations.
• Coordinate construction, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Ensure facilities comply with applicable safety regulations and industry standards.
• Support regulatory compliance related to laboratories, hazardous materials, and research operations.
• Partner with Environmental Health & Safety teams to maintain safe working environments.
• Oversee inspections, permits, and facility certifications.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–10 years of experience managing facilities operations in technical, industrial, or research environments.
• Experience with building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation.
• Strong knowledge of facility maintenance programs and vendor management.
• Experience managing budgets and facility improvement projects.
