The Role
To assist in this work, we are seeking a Facilities & Maintenance Worker (Level 1) to join our growing team. This role is essential in ensuring that our facilities, buildings, and surrounding grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and experienced in general maintenance, custodial duties, and minor repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
Assist with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry tasks, excluding major trades work.
Maintain clean and presentable facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for staff, residents, and visitors.
Respond to maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and complete minor repairs.
Support the setup and breakdown of events and meetings.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
Work collaboratively with other staff to uphold the Mission’s standards and values.
Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
Experience in facility maintenance, building repairs, or a related field.
Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to work in all weather conditions and respond to emergency situations.
First Aid Level 1 and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager - work is conducted across all Ruth and Naomi's facilities in Chilliwack BC. Hours for this role are currently Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm but are subject to change.
