Job Description
Essential Skills Manitoba (ESM) is looking for a Facilitator/Assessor who plays a central role in creating an engaging, inclusive, and productive environment where learners can learn, collaborate, and achieve defined outcomes. This role is responsible for guiding discussions, managing group dynamics, and ensuring that sessions whether training, workshops, or community engagements run smoothly and effectively. By using strong communication, active listening, and problem‑solving skills, the Facilitator/Assessor helps individuals clarify goals, explore ideas, and move towards learning objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
Strong understanding of adult learning principles
Understanding of Skills for Success Framework is an asset
Experience in a similar position, as well as background in the nonprofit sector will be considered an asset
Demonstrates strong knowledge and supports individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, contributing to an inclusive and equitable workplace and learning environment
Confident delivery of training sessions
Ability to interpret and deliver curriculum, training plans, and learning materials
Skilled in group facilitation and learner engagement
Competent in documenting learner progress and providing constructive feedback
Experience guiding learners through assessments, activities, and practical tasks
Ability to adapt facilitation style to meet learner needs and organizational requirements
Deliver structured training programs across multiple cohorts
Support adult learners from diverse backgrounds through guided practice, coaching, and feedback
Collaborate with training teams to refine materials and improve delivery
Responsibilities
Serve as a positive and informed representative of the organization.
Understand and deliver the Skills for Success Framework.
Deliver ESM workshops as required, including preparation of materials and classrooms either independently or as a team, flexible to support team goals.
Conduct assessment services using the organization’s internal assessment tool.
Guide learners through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) activities.
Determine learner strengths and identify areas of development from assessment results, classroom observations, learner self‑assessments, and conversations.
Conduct debriefs with learners to explain assessment results and recommendations.
Write learner reports including assessment results, facilitator observation, RPL, and provide appropriate next‑step recommendations to address areas for development.
Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with learners and referring partners, in person, by phone, and by email.
Conduct post‑training follow‑up with learners to accurately document program outcomes and update learner status.
Perform administrative functions for service deliveries including organization of digital learner files, entering attendance records, and collecting and entering survey results.
Utilize appropriate data collection and measurement processes and internal data application tools.
Utilize technology as required for service deliveries, such as Chromebooks, Smart boards, Teams, Learning Management Systems, and data collection software.
Work with the Programs Assistants, Operations team, and Instructors to support learners through an appropriate path.
Respond in a timely manner when contacted by government or other referring partners.
Adhere to and stay up to date with all organizational policies and procedures.
Collaborate on development of or updates to program materials and curriculum.
Provide back‑up coverage to front desk Programs Assistants as required.
Deliver offsite ESM and WEM services as required, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to travel to support training requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full Time (37.5 hrs per week)
